Background

The majority of Illinois citizens want a publicly financed, privately delivered, not-for-profit system which guarantees comprehensive health care for all. They want much needed relief to the 1.5 million people in Illinois without access to healthcare, the millions more who are under-insured, and the state's business and labor communities. Fortunately, a solution is emerging in our Illinois state legislature. The Health Care for All Illinois Act (H.B. 311) establishes an enhanced Medicare for All for all residents of Illinois. H.B. 311 restores health-care decisions to doctors and patients.

Because of strong public support, The Health Care for All Illinois Act (H.B. 311) continues to move forward in the Illinois General Assembly. Help end the healthcare crisis in Illinois! Please ask your Illinois representative to co-sponsor H.B. 311, using the message below.

Our state's health care delivery system is in need of urgent reform.  As the profits of HMOs and the  salaries of their CEOs increase each year, so do the number of Illinois residents who are dying and falling ill because they lack health care coverage.  Meanwhile, the cost of private medical insurance continues to escalate.

The majority of Illinois citizens want a publicly financed, privately delivered, not-for-profit system which guarantees comprehensive health care for all. They want much needed relief to the 1.5 million people in Illinois without access to healthcare, the millions more who are under-insured, and the state's business and labor communities. The spiraling costs of healthcare are negatively impacting Illinois businesses making it difficult for them to compete globally.

Fortunately, a solution is emerging in our Illinois state legislature. The Health Care for All Illinois Act (H.B. 311) establishes an enhanced "Medicare for All" for all residents of Illinois. Moreover, H.B. 311 restores health-care decisions to doctors and patients.

I urge you to co-sponsor HB 311, The Health Care for All Illinois Act, sponsored by Rep. Mary Flowers and more than 20 of your colleagues.  I'm an active voter who is among the majority of Americans who want a national healthcare system, and I'll remember your position on this issue next Election Day.
